This approach is recommended for individuals with flat cheek bones and want a more prominent appearance. The most common practice is to use silicone implants.
Ready-made silicone implants, which come in different sizes and dimensions.
Customized implants, which will be hand-shaped by the surgeon to match the desired size and dimension for that particular patient.
Individuals who want a more prominent cheek bone
Before the operation, the surgeon will choose the best-fitting silicone implant based on the patient’s bone structure. After applying anesthesia, the surgeon will cut open on the gum area, create an opening for the implant, and stop the bleeding. Once the implant has been fixed in place, the piece would be held in place with screws and the cut will be closed.
Apply cold pack to the area during the first 3 days.
For the mouth cut, rinse mouth 4 times per day (morning, noon, evening, night). The suture will resolve itself within 1-2 months. For the ear cut, to remove suture on Day 7. Patient can wash his/her face and apply makeup afterwards.
Avoid direct sunlight, spicy or preserved food, or food that requires heavy chewing during the first 1-2 months.
The swelling will be less noticeable after 3-6 months.
The bruising will be less noticeable after 2-3 weeks.
Upper lip numbness, which will be less noticeable after 3-6 months.
If left uncared for, the surgical cut in the mouth may risk infection.
Improper selection of the implant may result in unnatural appearance.
How long will the change last?
The result will typically last a lifetime, provided that there is severe direct impact to the cheek area.
